Israeli left-wing activist denied access to lawyer, to be held for another week

Sarah Schulman: Some years ago I was driving with Ezra Nawi in the Hebron Hills and we passed a checkpoint. The Israeli soldiers were harassing some Palestinian children and Ezra called out to the soldiers “They were here before you, they will be here after you.” Ezra, a gay Iraqi Jewish activist, was arrested by the Israeli government this week as he was trying to leave the country. His face and name have been blacked out in the media where he is only called “leftist”. He doesn’t have a lawyer and we do not know the charges. More here.
