Migrant crisis: Why Syrians do not flee to Gulf states

the gulf states are famous for how they treat “migrant” workers. at this time of desperation, their reticence to help is appalling. they are close-by and they have the means and wealth to save lives. yemen is one of the few arab countries which is willing to welcome refugees but the saudi-led coalition is bombing it to shreds with cluster bombs. the devastation being wrought on yemen has exacerbated food insecurity. it might be the beginning of a famine. so unbearably horrible.

This comes as part of wider obstacles facing Syrians, who are required to obtain rarely granted visas to enter almost all Arab countries. Without a visa, Syrians are not currently allowed to enter Arab countries except for Algeria, Mauritania, Sudan and Yemen. More here.
