A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal near the capital of Kathmandu. Immediate rescue efforts are underway and the estimated death toll continues to rise. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but aid groups are mobilizing to provide support and emergency supplies to the people impacted by the earthquake. from a friend: adhikaar is a group of nepali immigrants in NYC which organizes in the nepali community there around immigrant and tenant rights. they have been connecting with friends and family there, and people doing work on the ground since the earthquake, and started this fundraiser. if you are able to and looking for a place to donate for relief in nepal, you might want to check it out here.
