Racial profiling at Yale

Zareena Grewal on May 10th:

As a member of Yale’s faculty, I am outraged by the consistent policing and endangerment of black students and racialized people on campus. I commit to work in solidarity and in struggle alongside those on campus who seek racial justice. I call on Yale’s administration to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for racial policing that ends in the expulsion of the aggressors. In this instance, we call on Yale to ban the perpetrator from graduate student housing and to prevent her from teaching undergraduates, as her racism and propensity to police people of color is well documented and is an explicit threat to Yale’s stated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safety. The administration failed to act before when white students mobilized the police state against black students—who, by the way, do the hard the work each day to make Yale a more inclusive place. Show us, Yale, that black lives matter do indeed matter to you.
