it should be becoming apparent that people know calling the police on folks for “likely nothing” is a kind of retribution and the exertion of power that they *know* will at the very least endanger if not actually conclude in material violence. these various scenarios of the past few weeks have demonstrated white people calling police for literally nothing and in each case endangering black, brown and indigenous people. i will never think of these as isolated or even accidental. i consider them to be the practice of violence, a kind of retributive force for not being answerable to the ones that asked who these people were, what they wanted, etc. cheryl harris’s “whiteness as property” has been the din in the background to all this for me.
