United Airlines violence

Susan Abulhawa: The most outrageous aspect of the recent United Airlines fiasco is not that they violently dragged a ticketed passenger out of the plane, nor that they greedily overbooked the flight. It is the fact at least 100 other passengers remained in their seats as they watched police and crew terrorize a man minding his own business, trying to get home. It is this me-society that allows people and whole groups to get picked off, one by one. And only traditions of collectivism can stop capitalist terror.

— imho this is also a reflection of the security state, where people have been terrorized (and divided) into giving up on their rights, their space, their bodies. it’s become ok to witness capitalist terror and take it in stride because it’s all for the common good. they know better. we must trust uniformed authority.
