moussa was a remarkable man who rose to this position after starting life as a #slave<\/a> 
his son, bou ahmed, became chamberlain to moulay hassan and later after hassan\u2019s death he appointed himself grand vizier, resided in the palace, and became the de facto ruler of #morocco<\/a> until his death <\/p>\n\n\n\n

elegant #arches<\/a>, arcaded #courtyards<\/a>, lush #gardens<\/a> fragrant with jasmine and #citrus<\/a> trees, melodious #fountains<\/a>, brightly painted wood ceilings, intricate #stucco<\/a> work, pathways paved with white #carrara<\/a> #marble<\/a> from italy and beautiful #zellij<\/a> #mosaics<\/a>, galleries inlaid with yellow and blue #ceramic<\/a> #tiles<\/a>, #carved<\/a> #cedar<\/a> ceilings, stained #glass<\/a> and its multicolored shadows<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#islamic<\/a>\u00a0#architecture<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0#ornamentation<\/a>\u00a0are so exquisite so meticulous so expressive so sensorial that it\u2019s hard not to weep with joy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
